You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. ~Dr. Seuss
I have been working in public accounting since 1998. In 2003 I achieved my CGA designation. I found some satisfaction in working for larger accounting firms, especially when I was trusted to train staff and assist clients to organize and simplify their record keeping. However, it eventually became very clear to me that working at a large accounting firm, 40+ hours a week and tracking the use of my time in ten minute intervals was not the direction I wanted to choose!
With my certificate under my arm and some valuable experience under my belt, I set off on a new path. In 2008 I registered my own part-time practice in my home. In order to serve my client’s with integrity I continue to keep up-to-date with accounting standards and tax law, and I keep my alarmed office secure and separate from our living space.
I select my clients carefully – I want our working relationship to be mutually enjoyable. It is important to me to be available to encourage my clients when they need my input. I keep my client list to a manageable size, so that when a client has a question or a new idea and needs to talk, I have time to listen.
I have experience working with paperless files, as well as using Caseware; Caseview; Simply Accounting; Quickbooks; Profile; Taxprep and various financial statement templates.
